Due to the limited access I was concerned that the preparatory work and the laying of some 100m2 of paving would cause severe disruption in the cul-de-sac where I live. I had no reason to be concerned as the work was carried out with virtually no disruption at all, which has been remarked upon by a number of neighbours. In particular, your company's idea of informing them in writing of your intentions and giving a name and contact number in case of problems was a pleasant surprise and very well received.

My particular thanks go to Mark for his professionalism and to the team - Richard, Simon and Andy - for their efforts. They were extremely hard working, pleasant to have around and took pride in their finished work.

We were delighted with the service and quality they provided. Everyone was very friendly, professional, helpful and the job was completed to a high standard. As the workmen had to remove all the garden waste through the house it was important that we could trust them whilst in our property and this was certainly the case - and they did a great job of cleaning up afterwards! Our project managers Mark and Darren kept us fully informed throughout the process and regularly visited to check on the standard and progress of work.

I would recommend Abel to anyone who wants a high quality, professional service. They may not be the cheapest, but you certainly get what you pay for! We were so impressed that they are about to start on our driveway to make the front of the house look as good as the back!

We cannot commend Abel highly enough. From start to finish, the entire experience has been professional, highly competent and (that most elusive of all experiences when employing builders/contractors) completely free of worries and hassles.

The project was completed to schedule and the result met our requirements in every way - several aspects were suggested by Mark Higginbotham of Abel and our trust in his experience was well-placed.

Speaking of Mark, it was he who interpreted our plans/needs and was our main contact throughout the project - he kept us informed of the progress and we were consulted at every relevant stage of the development.

Team 1 [Completed 9th Febuary 2007] Driveway using Marshall's Driveline 50

Unable to acquire from friends and relatives a recommendation for a paver/landscaper to install our proposed new patio, walled area and front pathway ( inc.an additional wooden gate) my wife and I reluctantly had to resort to yellow pages and "take pot luck". We were attracted to ABEL'S advert because it was professional, gave a telephone number (Freephone), an address, when usually only a mobile number is given, and also had a website.

On viewing the website and looking at the current projects, plus all the other sections, we had no hesitation in ringing the telephone number. It was a Saturday afternoon but Darren (Moss) answered immediatly and arranged to call and see us the following Monday at 10.30am. He arrived on time, talked through the job, measured and priced. We accepted and gave a deposit.

Tommy arrived 3 days later, did the ground work and laid the foundations. Then Richard the paver commenced followed later by Carl the bricklayer.

Throughout, ABEL'S workforce were thorough in their work, conscientious and polite when dealing with both my wife and I.

Two unforeseen " snags" developed near the end of the project, but they were dealt with quickly and efficiently by both Darren and Mark.

We are satisfied with all aspects of dealing with ABEL'S and would not hesitate in giving their name as a recommendation.

The work carried out consisted of two jobs; a new driveway at the rear of the property, leading to the recently built garage and a ‘makeover’ for the front garden.

Work started on the driveway, in January, and despite having the equivalent of the whole month’s normal rainfall in the three days following the completion of the excavation work, which completely flooded the site, the team remained cheerful and confident that the job could be completed. Neighbours have commented on their surprise that the team remained on site and continued to battle the elements, eventually managing to drain the site and make progress.

Despite the problems, the finished result is way beyond my expectation, as the unsightly ramp giving access to the garage is gone and the whole area is on a gentle slope, which not only ensures surface water drains away, but is also aesthetically pleasing and gives greater ease of access to the garage.

The front garden faces north and is quite exposed. As a consequence, it was becoming neglected as I often found it too cold to work out there.

The front garden project followed the completion of the driveway, and again, a problem was encountered. This time, the front garden wall footings had perished, necessitating rebuilding - the house is over 100 years old, so I guess this is not surprising. Needless to say, Abel had a contact who could carry out the job, over the weekend, so work was only held up for one day.

The finished result is again beyond my expectation, thanks to Abel’s advice, skills and ability to interpret the customer’s requirement. I now have a virtually maintenance free front garden, just as I hoped, but, the shape of the path and edgings provide considerable interest.

I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending Abel, they are not the cheapest, but I certainly feel they give good value for money. Abel use quality materials, which are professionally installed, by quality tradesmen.

Darren Moss, the Director of Abel landscapes, gave us an estimate for the work, which I thought was very reasonable considering the work involved.

Abel landscapes workman arrived to do the work and we were pleasantly surprised, two men who actually knew what they were doing, they were pleasant and outgoing. At all stages they informed us what they were doing and why they were doing it. It rained a number of times but they did not stop work, they actually asked us if we minded if they stopped for half hour for lunch.

They told us each night when they were leaving, and what time what time they would return the next day, they were prompt and efficient. They had to lift and relay portions of block paving several times to get it right as Darren Moss came and checked the work personally.

Abel Landscapes are on the Marshals register, which means Marshals guarantee their work, if the work is not satisfactory they could be deleted from the register.

We give this reference because we are very happy with are block paving now, after suffering for nearly nine months of abusive phone calls from the first contractor, who we have taken to court, neighbours and passer-by can see the difference that Abel Landscapes Have made.

If anyone is thinking of block paving we can recommend Abel.
